  Using InDesign, I created a mock newsletter. There is no factual information, but I designed the layout myself so that it fit the topic that I chose and allowed for the newsletter to naturally flow. I wanted there to be a sort of solid and natural color scheme as this is an agricultural subject and therefore it has an earth-y tone to it. I chose titles and headings relevant to the topic, I just didn't include any additional information. I am confident that this mock layout could easily be turned into a layout used for a newsletter on this topic or similar topics. It is informative, yet not overwhelming with too many words and not enough visuals. There is also an even amount of white space. The pages are filled, but not too much. 

This was my first project using Adobe InDesign. I created a post card talking about an upcoming holiday and event in a local town. I used colors and images that related to the event. I generated a QR code that will lead to the official website that goes into more detail and shows all of the events taking place at this festival. 

  Hello everyone! My name is Jourdyn Armstrong. I am a senior at Central Michigan University set to graduate in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  I am an intern in the appraisal department at GreenStone Farm Credit Services and I have been there for nearly two years. I am in the process of applying for full-time positions at GreenStone as I would like to stay employed there after graduation. Prior to working at GreenStone, I was employed in the CMU Sign Shop where I assisted with the signage around campus. I also had the opportunity to work with some of the programs and systems at the sign shop. Using these, I created the following logo for a local dairy farm.  Outside of work and school, some of my hobbies include reading, being outside, hanging out on the farm, and spending time with my animals.   This was my first project using Photoshop. In this project, I was asked to repair this older, damaged photo using Photoshop tools. The feedback that I received stated that the necklace was incomplete, there were strange lines in her chin, and there were shadowing issues with her right eye. I took a second look at the image and made changes to these problems. Below is my corrected image.  It can be seen that I was able to fill in the rest of her necklace. I used the clone stamping tool to fix this. I was also able to fix some of the lines in her chin by using the patch tool in Photoshop. Lastly, I used both the clone tool and the patch tool to fix the issues with her right eye. I am really happy with how I was able to fix these problems from my original submission. 

  In this design, I was tasked with creating a flyer to advertise an event put on by a business. I chose to create a hypothetical event hosted by a farm. I used a logo that I created for an actual local farm and then stuck with the shape theme throughout the rest of the flyer. I tried to use a color scheme that matched and also represented the agricultural aspect of the event. 

  This project was a postcard meant to introduce the topic of a pictograph that I created soon after this. It was to display a topic, theme, and color scheme for the future project. I chose the blue/green color scheme with some neutral tan colors to fit the agricultural theme that I chose for the pictograph project. I tried to stick with the square and rectangular shapes throughout to be consistent and create repetition. 

  The goal of this project was for me to create a nametag to put on my designs to be a sort of signature. These are my initials; they stand for Jourdyn Elizabeth Armstrong. I do realize that my initials are out of order, but there is a clever reason for that. My nickname is "J". So, with this tag, I was able to incorporate both my initials and my nickname by using my initials to spell out "J". 

  This project tasked me with creating a WET (works every time) layout design for a hypothetical topic. The WET layout begins with an attention-grabbing image at the top, columns of information/verbiage, and images throughout that relate to the topic being discussed. I went with a variety of contrasting greens to match the images that I used, and I felt that the varying tones helped to make certain portions more relevant and noticeable. 

  This is the project that I discussed on another project page where I was asked to create a pictograph. This was meant to depict some sort of fact or statistic. It makes it more visually appealing for a prospective audience. The above image was my first attempt at depicting this information. However, I knew it needed more, I just couldn't place it. I presented these rough drafts to a design class and that was extremely helpful to hear how others interpreted my design. After that, I took their advice and turned my design into more of an infographic as their feedback suggested that in order to make sense of the fact I was presenting, they needed more background information. Below is my finished design.  I chose to incorporate a couple paragraphs to explain the information being presented in the pictograph portion of this infographic.
